The Purpose of Green Belts

An Environmental Management System put in place to preserve ecological land and values, ensure that city dwellers have access to educational and recreational opportunities, contain urban sprawl, and improve air quality in urban and industrial areas.
A green belt is an area of land that can be comprised of farmland, forests, marshes, and grasslands. It forms an arc around a urban centre in an effort to control city limits by restricting development.
